Photography

Photographic editions of her own collections of miscellaneous objects, often taken in the studio of Allard Bovenberg, and a series of photographs taken during her visits at museums (Museum Series) form at present an important part of her work. The latter closes the circle in her ongoing research: museum windows are being photographed by Van Diemen since 1989 and forms a body of work that comments, again, on perception. Whilst the average visitor in a museum will pass a museum window unnoticed, Van Diemen is always looking for these ‘framed views’ that separate the outside reality from the imaginary reality inside the museum. A thin glass layer, a momentum created by light and other accidental influencers becomes an autonomous work of art.
