Reconstructing the space
To maximize the potential of the library, three elements – a table/stage, an arena and a pyramid – can be rearranged into multiple arrangements. This in turn organises the space into the desired functions.
The possibility of multiple arrangements gives way to redefine and clarify continuously the physical space of the library. Pupils are able to anticipate the activity that will be held in each area, thereby increasing their participation and improving their behavior.
Van Diemen’s design invites teachers, eventually with help of the pupils, to find the best possible arrangements for different purposes thus encouraging and enhancing collaborative learning.
